Austin Recreation and Activities
Wherever one might gaze in Austin, there are people walking, jogging or cycling. As a community it is known as one of the fittest cities in America with good diet and many exciting outdoor activities.
The city has more than 220 parks in the vicinity of the city and streets that have biking lanes. Austin is also home to the Barton Springs, a swimming hole with 68 degrees water fed from a spring. The city also features the famous 360 acre Zilker Park which offers many outdoor recreational activities such as picnic, trekking, cycling among many others. The numerous water bodies that surround Austin like the Lake Travis, Town Lake and Lake Austin are perfect places for water activities such as scuba diving, sailing, and canoeing.
